Bite Club Episode #2 – A la Cart (Michigan St location)

For episode 2, we met up at A La Cart off Michigan St (technically, I would call it SoDo adjacent). I checked out all the food vendors first and really wanted to try a bunch but my wallet didn’t allow it lol. All things considered, not all options are super pricey, I ordered a pizza that was big enough for 2 for a little $20 (which is great for a food truck in Orlando).

I also ordered chicken lumpia, which is like an egg roll, from Overrice, a Filipino/Hawaiian food truck. A friend of mine told me I should get an order of pork lumpia since those are the OG lumpia haha. After putting in my food orders, I got a Blake’s Cherry Limeade Hard Cider which made me feel like I was drinking a soda but it definitely had quite the kick! It was not a local beverage but it’s just what I was in the mood for. They had plenty of other cool options like a Peanut Butter & Jelly Gluten-Free Sour from Xul Beer Company out of Knoxville, TN which tasted phenomenal! It was like I took a bite out of a PB&J. It sounds weird but don’t knock it til’ you try it!! They had some local Florida bevvies too but I only got the one cider lol.

The chicken lumpia was very tasty, although it was so fresh I burnt my mouth a little (that’s on me tho, I am impatient sometimes lol). The photo really doesn’t do it justice. It was so good, I don’t know how I managed to offer some to my friends haha. A friend of mine told me he prefers pork lumpia in general and that they are the OG lumpia. I will have to try it next time!!

For my main food item, I got a spicy pepperoni pizza from Nona Street Pizza. The portion size was huge! Like I said easily 2 adults could share it!! The pepperonis were amazing, it had a honey drizzle and my friends liked it too (I gave them some to try since the portion was so big haha). The photo does not give a sense of scale, trust me, it’s a big pie!!

This new location is great, with lots of food and beer options (I didn’t get wine so can’t comment but they do have wine options too), plenty of parking, lots of seating, and a very chill vibe. What I like the most was that it’s a great vibe like the original location: open air easy breezy, laid back, come-as-you-are type vibe with friendly and efficient staff as well. I can’t wait to go back!!
